President-General’s Profile

The Association of Niger Delta Medical Doctors of Nigeria is serving the medical/humanitarian, medical educational and infrastructural, environmental health needs of the people of the nine states of the Niger Delta Region of Nigeria (population: 31 million people)

Kobina Imananagha is a Professor of Neurology/ Consultant Physician/ Neurologist at both the Niger Delta University, Wilberforce Island, and the Niger Delta University Teaching Hospital, Okolobiri, Bayelsa State of Nigeria;
Professor KK Imananagha was the pioneer Bayelsa State Honourable Commissioner for Health; and a former Provost of the Niger Delta University’s College of Health Sciences; Under the Commissionership of Professor KK Imananagha, the major pillars of the health sector of Bayelsa State were successfully erected:

*   Establishment of the Hospital Management Board for the state;

*   Establishment of the Federal Medical Centre, Yenagoa, serving the tertiary hospital needs of Bayelsa State;

*   Establishment of General Hospitals and Comprehensive Health Centres in the Local Government Areas of Bayelsa State, serving the secondary and primary health care needs of the people of the state;

*   Establishment of the Bayelsa State Nursing School, at Tombia, effectively providing nursing manpower needs of the state; and later, during the tenure of Professor Tarila Tebepah as Commissioner for Health, the Niger Delta University’s College of Health Sciences was established, training the other health professionals to power the health care delivery needs of Bayelsa State.
